Jll ltalv the utmost excitement prevails. Conllicts had occurred between the French and the Papal troops, and large armies were concentrated on cither side the Po. The Poles were bravely struggling for freedom against overwhelming odds. The Russian Government has issued an ukase emancipating the peasants of Poland. Great cruelties were being exercised against the revolted Poles. From .America the news is ronfirmatorv of late advices. Everywhere the South is victorious. The Florida expedition of the North has been a complete failure. The Federals under Sherman were defeated at Mcridon with a loss of 1501) men. A great battle was fought in the State of Florida on the '20th .March, when the Confederates defeated the Federals with great loss. The Federal army had failed under General Meade in the attempt to intercept Lee's communications with Richmond. President Lincoln has called for 20l>.()00 men. Gold at New York is worth (52 1 premium.
