Volckner riIHH TjOCATj COMMITTEE, nominated by His _L Honor the Superintendent, respectfully solicits the co-operation and assirtanco of the public generally, in obtaining samples and specimens of Wool, hlax, Timber, Cereals, Kauri Guru, Gold, Coal, Fossils and Minerals of every description ; also Mamiiactured Articles and Productions of this Province, to forward for Show to the 2Cow Zealand Exhibition, to bo hold in OTAGO. 011 the F]RST TUKSDAV of .TANUAKY, JBr>s. The Committee arc very desirous of having this Province fully represented at the forthcoming Ex- ; hibitiou, espt cially in respect t* those articles of ■ natural production which are likely to-become staples of export. The method of dressing and improving these articles is (lie next most important subject. Any information furnished on this head will be highly appreciated, and will materially assist the Committee with the objects in view. •Specimens of Natural .History and information relative to Arts and Science are also required, especially such as shall exhibit the Geology and Mineralogy of this Province. J he Committee recommend that a label should be attached by exhibitors to every article intended for exhibition, describing locality where procurable, or manufactured, and quantities likely to be obtained, and probable cost. It is the intention of the Committee to hold an Inhibition in Auckland, of the collection, before transmitting it to Ota«jo, at which premiums will be awarded for articles considered of sufficient merit. The commission nominated by His Kxeellency the Governor, have intimated that they will be prepared to receive articles 011 and after the first dav of October next, and have fixed the 12th of December as the latest u;i-e on which arti'-h-s can be received; the collection from Auckland w»ul,d therefore require to be shipped curly in November. The Committee have fixed the day of October as the latest date ut which article? can be received in Auckland. As it is in cont< mplation by soine members of the Committee and hlo wise bv the Hon. »Socretarv to proceed with lh»* collection, with a view of a proper supervision ami bringimr prominently under the notice ot vi:-:tors the manuiacturers and products generally ot ti'is Province; a favourable opportunity if thereby ottered to manufacturer* and others of introdueimr any articles with which they may entrust the Committee to exhibit. The Committee liave made arrangements that any Mi-tit les intended for exhibition -will be received and stored free nf"spouse by the Secretary. Every care will bo bestowed in packing and transmitting to Ob-n.
