It is said that " comparisons are odious," ami in this instance comparison is particularly so, as one thinks of " .May day " in " merry England," with its joyous associations of green lields and opening liowers, and meny making of every kind, when tho niiud turns from viewing these things to the stern reality of a miserably wet Sunday morning, the rain failing in tornnts, the mud ankle deep, and the dismal prospect of a full week of this weather, such, is Mayday ut the Queen's Hedoubt. fctaif-f-urgeon llorue lias gone on to Auckland this morning, en. route for Taurar.gu ; the medical superintendance here will revert to J'r. Nicholson. There was no convoy yesterday morning; I cannot account for tho nou-perlormunce of this duty. The .Military Train are having a range of stabling erected at the rear of the Kedoubt, the stabling hero at present is very limited, and not of the best description, consisting only of a slight framework covered With tiirpahu. iSow the aimer is coming on some b.-ttcr accommodation ouulit to be ali'orded to tha hard workiug brutes who do ua 6uch good service. There was a voluntary service in the church this morning, the lain being so heavy as to preclude tho possibility of having a parade.
