Fossils. $nd Minerr.ls of- c-rery inscription'; also Manufactured Articles and Productions of thi's Province, to forward for Show to the Xew Zealand Exhibition, to be held in OTAGO, on the FIRST TUESDAY of JANUARY, 1365. The Committee are very desirous of having this Province fully represented at the forthcoming Eihibition, especially in respect t» those articles of natural production which are likely to become staples of export. The method of dressing and improving thes« articles is the next most important subject. Anv infor. mation furnished on this head will be hislily" appreciated, and will materially essist the Committee wilh the objects in view. Specimens of Natural HistorV and information relative to Art? and Science are alSr* required, especially such as shall exhibit the Geology and Mineralogy of this Province. The Committee recommend that a label should be attached by exhibitors to every article intended for exhibition, describing locality where procurable, or manufactured, and quantities likely to be obtained, and probable cost. I It is the intention of the Committee .tt- hold aa j Exhibition in .Auckland, of the collection, before j transmitting it to Otago, at which premiums will be 1 awarded for articles considered of sufficient merit, i The commission nominated by His Excellency the j Governor, have intimated that they will be prepared to receive articles on and after the first day of October next, and have fixed the 12th of December as the latest date on whic-h articles can be received; the collection from Auckland would therefore reauii* to be shipped early in November. The Committee have fixed the 20th day of October as the latest date at which articles can be received in Auckland. 1 As it is in contemplation by some members of the I Committee and likewise by the Hon. Secretarv to j proceed with the collection, with a view of a proper j supervision and bringing prominently under the no- | tiee of -visitors the manufacturer? and products gmI enilly of this Province ; a favourable opportunity i.« 1 thereby offered to manufacturers and'others of intro- | ducmp: any articles with which they may entrust ths Committee to exhibit.
The Committee earnestly trust that every effort ■will be made in furnishing a complete collection of articles manufactured and produced in this Province; and as they are fully impressed ■with the importance of Exhibitions generally, and the large amount of benefit resulting therefrom, they confidently anticipate that neve resources of trade will open up in the export of many articles which are now manufactured by the aid of machinery androtherwise to a considerable extent in this Province. The Committee request that intending exhibitors will forward to the .Secretary in writing-with as little delay as possible, a list of the articles intended to bo prepared for exhibition, with the amount of spaca (superficial area) required : also the wall space: as the Ist of Hay is the latest date allowed by the Zealand Commission for receiving- applications for space. The Secretary, or any member of Committee, *dll bo happy to afford every information in their power to intending exhibitors. Tho Committee will hold themselves responsible for the safe custody and delivery of all articles ia Ota go, free of cost: the disposal of them after th« close of the Exhibition is left discretionary with exhibitors. The prices may be affixed to any articles exhibited. The Committee have made arrangements that_ anT articles intended for exhibition will be received and stored free of expense by the .Secretary. Every care will be bestowed in packing aud transmitting to Otago. Subscriptions in aid of defraying the necessary expenses which will be incurred in carrying out th« above objects, will bo thankfully received by tht Treasurer, or .inv member of thv Committee. E.
