An effort has boon made by tho native police at to obtain it but without effect. A Maori prophet (Hopanaia) lias risen up amonir tho natives, who is in comnmncation. according to his own account, with the Gabriel and the Virgin }farv, both of whom informed him t?i;it M.-uuiirntau-tftri had boon taken on Saturday by the Maoris who ibad killed XOOO soldiers and eaten 19 of them.—
