Timber, Cereals, Kauri Gum, Gold, Coal, Fossils and Minerals of every description ; also Manufactured Articles and Productions of this Province, to forward for Show to the New Zealand Exhibition, to be held in OTAGO, on the FIRST TUESDAY of JANUARY, 1565. The Committee are very desirous of having tliu Province fully represented at the forthcoming Ex : liibition, especially in respect t» those articles of natural production wliieli lire l:kely to become of export. The method of dressing and improving these articles is the next most important subject. Any information furnished on this head will be highly appreciated, and will materially assist the Committee with tlie objects in view. Specimens ol Natural History and information relative to Arts and Science are also required, especially such as shall exhibit the Geology and Mineralogy of this Province. The Committee recommend that a label should be attached by exhibitors to every article intended for exhibition," describing locality where procurable, or manufactured, and "-uantities likely to be obtained, v - -.probable cost. j lis the intention of the Committee to hold an Exhibition in Auckland, of the collection, before transmitting it to Otago, at which premiums will bs awarded for articles considered of sufficient merit. The commission nominated by His Excellency the Governor, have intimated that they will be prepared to receive articles on and after the first day of October next, and have fixed the 12th of December as the latest date on which articles can be received; the collection from Auckland would therefore require to be shipped early in November. The Committee have fixed the 20th day of October as the latest date at which articles can be received in Auckland. As it is in contemplation by some members of the Committee and likewise by the Hon. Secretary to proceed with the collection, with a view of a proper supervision and bringing prominently under tho notice of visitors the man ufacturers and products generally of this Province ; a favourable opportunity is thereby offered to manufacturers and others of introducing any articles with which they may entrust the Committee to exhibit. The Committee earnestly trust that every effort will be made in furnishing a complete collection of articles manufactured and produced in this Province; and as they are fully impressed with tho importance of Exhibitions generally, and the largo amount of benefit resulting therefrom, they confidently anticipate that new resources of trade will open up in the export of many articles which are now manufactured by the aid of machinery and otherwise to a considerable extent in this Province. The Committee request that intending exhibitors will forward to the Secretary in writing with as little delay as possible, a list of the articles intended to be prepared for exhibition, with the amount of space (superficial area) required ; also the wall space; as the Ist of Slav is the latest date allowed by the New Zealand Commission for receiving applications for space. Tho Secretary, or any member of Committee, will be happy to afford every information in their power to intending exhibitors. The Committee will hold themselves responsible for the safe custody and delivering of all articals in Otago, free of cost; the disposal of them after the close of the Exhibition is left discretionary with exhibitors. The prices may be affixed to any articles exhibited. Tho Committee he ve made arrangements that any articals intended for exhibition will bo received and stored free of expense by the Secretary. Eyery care will be bestowed in packing aud transmitting to Otago. Subscriptions in aid of defraying the necessary expenses which will bo incurred in carrying out the above objects, will bo thankfully received by the Treasurer, or anv member of the Committee. E.
