The schooner Wave arrived from Canterbury yesterday morning, with a cargo ot Oilt-y and barley. The schooner Taumnga, Captain Sclhirs, arrived from Tauranga yesterday morning, having left that port on Wedne-day evening last. The gunboat Sandfly was passed off the Mercury's, and tho ketch Sea Shell was biylitud beating into Mercury Bay. The schooner Hose Ann anived from Napier, via 11ft'East Coast, yesterday morning. •The- ship Lady Young, Captain Morrison, for Valparaiso; ship Golden City, C'apt. Martin, for Point uo Galle; and barque Atlantic, Captain Kelly, for Newcastle, X. S. \V., all sailed yesterday. The barque Tomatin, Captain Grini-son, hauled from the wharf into the stream yesterday afternoon. She takes her departuru top Sydney early tiiis morning. The schooner Surprise-, Captain Fiost, arrived at Kaipara from tliis pott on Monday last. The schooners liidemnn and Crest of the "Wave came alongside the Queen-street wharf yesterday morning, and commenced discharging. The ship Gladiator, Captain Young, will haul from tho end of the wharf into the stream this day, and her berth will be taken up by the barque A. AY. Stevens, C'aptiiin Brown. The Gladiator will shortly be taking her departure for Callao. The ship Scimitar, Captain Potts, cleai-s at the Customs for Bombay this day, and will sail on Monday next. The New Zealand Steam Navigation Compact's Steamek Lady Bint). —This smart screw steamer arrived about four months since from XelBon, and was immediately placed in the hands of the A. S. N. Company, fiom whom she has received most extensive repairs, and no expense has been spared to render her a most eiiicienr vessel. Her "engines have been taken out, and have received a most minute examination, and the boilers thoroughly repaired, which will, no doubt, materially increase "her speed. The passenger accommodation has been particularly looked to. There is a nicely furnished saloon on deck, and the sleeping apartments are fitted below —affording accommodation for fifty-six lirstelass passengers —replete with every convenience. Amongst other improvements is a bridge-house, • placed forward, and filled up with berths for the accommodation of the oillcers. It may also be mentioned that the Lady Bird has hail a complete relit in hull and rigging, and was yesterday launched from the patent slip. She is propelled by a tlirce-bladed screw, and fitted with direct acting engines of seventy nominal horse power. This vessel is commanded by Captain Renuer, and iB the sixth of a well ordered line of Bteamers owned by the abovenamed company. She will sail ou the 9th infant, to take up her station in the inter-provincial trade of New Zealand. — Sydney Empire, April 2.
