RUMOUR.
Yesterday afternoon it was rumoured about town, that "Wm. Thompson and the natives with him were about to lay down their arms and throw- themselves on' the clemency of the Queen. We believe that this rumour was simply occasioned bv the fact that on the previous day Wm. JS'iivlor had arrived in town from Kaplan and had liad an interview with the Governs.-, in i •.vhich he proposed to visit Win. Thompson with j the view of inducing him to accept, the terms of j unconditional surrender proposed by the JN'ew j Zealand Government. j
