Exhibition, to be held in OTAGO, on the FIRST j TTKSDAY of JANUARY, 18(15. The Committee are wit desirous of having thi* Province fully represented' at the forthcoming Exhibition, especially in respect to those articles of natural production which are likely to become staples of export. The method of dres«in:* and improving these articles is the next most important subject. Any information furnished on this head will be highly'appreciated, and will materially assist the Committee with the objects in view. Specimens of Natural History and information relative to Arts and Science arc also required, especially such as shall exhibit the Geology and Mineralogy of this Province. The Committee recommend that a label should be attached by exhibitors to every article intended for I exhibition,' describing locality" where, procurable, or j manufactured, and quantities likely to be obtained, j and probable cost. | It is the intention of the Committee to hold nn Exhibition in Auckland, of the collection, before triinsmittiii!; it to Otago, at whieh premiums will be awarded for articles considered of sullic.irnt merit. The commission nominated by His Excellency the Governor, have intimated that they will be prepared to receive articles on and after the first day of October next, and have fixed the 12th of December ] a< the latest date on which articles can be received ; ! the collection from Auckland would therefore require. ' to be shipped curly in November. The Committee have fixed the 201 h (lav of October as the latest date at which arti'-lcs nut b'r received in Auckland. As it is in contemplation by some, members of the Committee and likewise by the lion. Secretary to proceed with the colleetinn, with a view of a proper supervision and hriitsrinj- prominently under the nolice of visitors the. manufacturers and products generally of this Province : a favourable opportunity is [ thereby otVercd to manufacturers and others of introI diicinsr ar.y articles with which they may entrust tho I Committee to exhibit. j The Committee earnestly trust that every effort I will he made in furnislnW ii complete collection of artieles manufactured and produced in this Province; and us they arc fully impressed with the importance of Exhibitions generally, and tho lnrpo amount of henelit resulting 'therefrom, they confidently anticii pate that new resources of trade will open up in the j export of many articles which are now manufactured by the aid of machinery and otherwise to a considerable extent in this Province. The Committee request that intending exhibitors will forward to the Sr.-rt-tary in writing with as little dehy as possible-, a list of the articles intended to be prepared for exhibition, with the amount of space i-upetlieial area) required : also the wall space; as the Ist of May is the latest, date allowed by the New Zealand Commission l'or receiving applications lor The Secretary, or any member of Committee, will be h.'ippv to alford every information in their power to inteiidiiu* exhibitors. The prices may he atlixed to any articles exhibited. The Committee have made arrangements that any articnls intended for r-shibition will be received and stored free of expense by the Secretary. Every care will bo bestowed in packing aud transmitting to Ot.-tffO. Subscriptions in aid of defraying the necessary expenses which will he incurred' in currying out the above objects, will be thankfully received by the Treasurer, or any member of the Committee. E.
