DEPARTURE OF ARTILLERY FOR HEAD-QUARTERS.
Tite rebels five evidently not to he permitted io occupy Ilicir new rosiii< i> at Jiiumgaiavvlinri unmolested. The rost is said to lie :i strong one; on a bmd of the Horotiu whore the si ream is narrow but deep, and where the brink, with wall-like perpendicularity, rises to a great height. The eileet o!" heavy shot and shell, we hear, is to be tried against them. Yesterday morning, two 32-pounder howitzers (two 21-pouiiders having been previously sent forward I'rom the Queen's Kedoubl), two 8-ineh and two 10-im-h mortars, with a full complement of shot raid shell were sent from the Britomart Ordnanee ceynrtment. Colonel Williaiiis of the I?oyal Artillery, with Lieut. Picard, were pret-ent in superintendence of tln-ir dispatch, the ijnns and limbers boinpr driven by the men of ihe Military Train. The horses, although but recently arrived and unused to the work, were mostly very fine animals and m excellent condition." Their tackle too was strong and substantial, and ihe general turnout had a haudsome and martial appearance. Ilie cortege proceeds right on to the front, from whence we hope to be speedily favoured with a cheering report of their efficacious employment.
