Tin; Great South Koad runs through its centre, nnd in divided into large-sized allotments, with frontage \o level streets abutting on the Ovent South IJoad, and leading from the landing place at the terminus of deep water in ►Slippery Creek. The coal mines are but a short, distance from the town, ami are now again at work, and the return of pcaee will afford employment to large numbers of workmen. The iramway from tho coal mines passes the township. The importance of the river communication cannoi he too highly estimated, the deep water adjoining the township on one side for its enlii'f length, and the creek is now cleared, so that vessels of considerable tonnage can navigate the river safe! y. As many as five schooners, some of them discharging: upwards of 50 tons each, and the steamer 'Lady Hackly,' were lately discharging cargo during the same tide.
