Tlie contractor to find provisions for the driver and forage for tho horses, and to keep the drays in repair. Each tender to state tKd number of drays to bo at the call of tho Government on any one day, and the contractor to be held responsiblo for (dl losses or damage done to goods during the time they wore in his possession. Tho drivers will he required to give all assistance in their power in loading and unloading their drays, and each dray must be provided, if wanted, with a large tarpaulin. HHENDERS are invited for the following Steam 1 Services on the Coast of New Zealand, lor the conveyance of her Majesty's Mails for one year, terminable thereafter by three months' notice : — 1. A steamer leaving Otagoon the first Monday in May, and proceeding thence to Manukau via Lytlelton, Wellington, Picton, Nelson, and Taranaki ; leaving Manukau on the third Monday in May, back to Otago by tho same route, and so on, making the voyage every four weeks. 2. A steamer leaving Otago on the second Monday in May, and proceeding as above. 3. Do. do. on the third Monday in May. •I. Do. do. on the fourth Monday in May. 5. A steamer leaving the Bluff on the first Tuesday in May, and proceeding thence to Auckland via Otago, Lytteiton, \\ ellington, and Napier, leaving Auckland on the third Thursday of May-, back to the Bluff by the same route, and so on, making the voyage every four weeks. 0. A steamer leaving the Bluff on the second Tuesday in May, ami proceeding as above. Do. do. leaving on the third Tuesday in May. 8 Do. do. lcaviug on the fourth Tuesday in May. Tenders will be received for the above services separately, or for two or more, or the whole, but tenderers must specify the boat to be employed on each service. .The precise date of commencing the respective services may be a matter of arrangement, provided it harmonises with the above system. Suflicient mail accomodation to be provided to the satisfaction of the Postmaster-General, and a. free passage for a post-oflice clerk in charge ot the English mail, if required. The Postmaster-General to fix the dates of arrival and departure at each port, and to have the power ol detaining any vessel for 2 I hours, without charge ; the rate of charge for further detention to be stated in the tenders.
