ALBION GOLD MINING- COMPANY.
The annual general meeting of the shareholders of this company was hold in their otlice, Queen-ttreet, yesterday nftomoon. A quorum having been obtained, Mr. K. -f. Cox ■was voted into the chair, and the minutes of the preceding meeting were read and confirmed. It will be remembered Unit, at the commencement of the present war, the Albion, amongst other companies at Coromandel, desisted from working their claim. They were, too, exceedingly inconvenienced by the presence of water. The manager, at yesterday's meeting, stated that the shaft now sunk must certainly, from the indications in the adjoining rich claims, strike gold if continued ; that the gold was dipping northward towards the Albion, and, from experience in No. 5, the deeper it dipped, the richer would be the yield. "It was now satisfactorily ascertained that the roof running through the Albion and Victoria claims was the same as that which bad yielded, and was still yielding, such rich returns in No. 5. The chairman then stated that the business of the meeting was to appoint throe directors and two auditors. Mr. Turton proposed that three directors, residents in Auckland, should be elected in place of Messrs. Morgan, Binns, and Clarke, absent in different parts of the Colony. This motion was seconded by Mr. \Yilson, and carried. A ballot was then taken, and the. three following gentlemen were declared duly elected as directors in the place of Messrs. Morgan, Isinns, and Clarke, viz :—The Hon. Frederick- Whitaker, 11. H. Turton, Esq., M. G-. A., and Mr. K. Tngles. Messrs. TurnbuH and Uueimnan were then elected auditors, and Mr. B.llorne secretary and treasurer. A vote of thfnike was then passed to the chairman, and thu meeting separated.
