TESTIMONIAL. I testimonial, becomingly weighted in the shape of as exceedingly handsome silver salver, was presented bj the passengers of the good ship ' Helvellyu' to Captain Daliaon, at Mr. James' (Q.C.E.), onSaturdav !ast. These are acknowledgments wliich tell their own tale; and we can understand and appreciate t'aem quite as well ns their recipients unquestionably do. They are more " germane" to the matter than the stale and stereotyped wordiness so much tho fashion of the day—landsmen lauding seamen for the ability they displav in a profession of which it is ten to one the eulogist:! are profoundly ignorant. But every one to his taste. The salver prcsc-uti.il to Captain Dalisou is very handsome, and beard im inscription suitable to the occasion. POUT OF MOXttOXCI.
