It is necdlesß to point out, now to an Auckland public the advantage of investing in this rapidly prospering Township of Pokeno. Already largo profits have boon offered to the fortunate first purchasers, and traders and tradesmen have made it their home ; for its permanence as a British Settlement and an important Military Post, is no longer a matter of doubt. Indeed, situated as it is on the Waikato thoroughfare, one stage from Drury and close at hand to the river ; while, likewise possessing every facility for a largo Settlement, it may be safely predicted that it will "go ahead" and rise into prosperous importance faster than even the capital itself has done. A correspondent in the Herald of the 20th inst., thus records his first impressions of the place : — " It is astonishing the air of complete settlement " here. There is the Redoubt 300 feet square, inside "of which are clustered wooden offices and tents, " spread around outside are the tents of various de- " taclimcnts and of the Artillery. Stretching away " right and left are excellent metalled roads, and for " some little distance along them wooden and iron "buildings stand, or are in course of erection; " ever ,tliiug speaking out that the Pakeha has " settled here for ever, and that the Muori need hope j " to reign no more."
