Tt is needless to point out now to an Auckland public the advantage of investing in this rapidly prospering TownHhi]).oi' Pokeno. Already large profits have been offered to the fortunate first purchasers, and trailers and tradesmen have made it their home ; for its permanence as a British Settlement and an important Military Post, is 110 longer a matter of doubt. Indeed, situated as it is on the Waikato thoroughfare, one stage from Brury and close at hand to the river; while, likewise possessing every faei'liiy for a large Settlement, it may be safely predicted that it will "go ahead" and rise into prosperous importance faster than even the capital itself has done. A correspondent, in tlw Herald of the 20th inst., thus records his first impressions of tile place :— " It is astonishing tho air of complete settlement " here. There is the Redoubt. 300 feet square, inside "of which are clustered wooden offices aud tents, " spread around outside are the tents of various de- " taehments and of the Artillery. Stretching away " right and left are excellent metalled roads, and for " some little distance along them wooden and iron " buildings stand, or are in course of erection; " everything speaking out that the Pakeha has " settled hero lor ever, and that the Maori need hope " to reign no more."
