TASMANIAN COMMERCIAL INTELLIGENCE. (From ibe '* itobarton Mercury," November 2.) The week has closed without any increased activity being exhibited in the state of trade. Business continues generally dull, tho principal transactions being for home consumption. During the early part of the week a fair amount of business was done 111 produce, chiefly for export to New Zealand, and stocks of some descriptions of produce have been greatly reduced. Potatoes are enquired for, but there are few to be had at present. AVe cannot, however, report any alteration in price. As stated in Friday's issue, the intelligence from California and (ho neighbouring colonies has seriously affected our market for breadstuff's, and prices may be expected to decline. Sales have already been made at ss. Gd. per bushel, but we may still quote at from os. Gd. to ss. 9d. per bushel. Prices of other articles continue asunder: —Oats are scarce and may be quoted at from Gs. 3d. to Gs. Gd. per bushel. Hay, pressed, .CG to £0 10s. Potatoes, AIS to £5 10s. per ton (bags ineluded). Launoeston.—We take the following from the Chronicle of the 31st ult. :— " The wheat and flour market must remain depressed until the receipt of more encouraging advices than those brought to hand by the ' Royal Shepherd.' Later advices may be expected early to-day by the 1 City of Launeeston.' It is not probable that wheat will advance much above the present Quotation, ss. per bushel, for some time to some, as new Adelaide wheat has been sold at that figure for delivery in December. Flour remains at about £12 per ton. Oats are scarce at Gs. per bushel. Potatoes, i' 4 to £4 10s. per tou."
