BACHELOR'S BALL.
A ball was given to his Excellency Capt. Fitzroy, last week, at the Freemason's Hall, Barrett's Hotel, by the Bachelor's of Wellington. Our gentle readers need not start at the ominous name at the head of this paragraph, for we can assure them that a numerous portion of the fair and lovely part of creation were in attendance, and that the ball was one of the best, if not the very best, ever given in Port Nicholson. The hall was tastefully adorned, and the company amused themselves with dancing till a late hour. The supper was laid out in the Billiard Room, the billiard table having been removed, and as is generally the custom with Mr. Suisted, the tables literally groaned under the profusion of the good things of Wellington and its neighbourhood. His Excellency seemed highly pleased with the entertainment, and the company present, after spending a very pleasant evening, broke up at a late, or rather an early, hour.
