By his Excellency William Hobson, Captain in her Majesty's Royal Navy, and Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and its dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same, &c. &c. WHEREAS, by Letters Patent under the Great Seal of the High Court of Admiralty in England, bearing date the thirteenth day of March, 1841, her Majesty has been graciously pleased to ordain, constitute, and depute me, William Hobson, Esquire, Captain in her Majesty's Royal Navy, to be her Majesty's ViceAdmiral, Commissary, and Deputy in the office of Vice- Admiral in her Colony of New Zealand and to the Territories thereon depending ; to take cognizance of, and proceed in all cases, civil and maritime, and in all complaints, contracts, offences, or suspected offences, crimes, and misdemeanors, or suspected misdemeanors, within the Maritime Jurisdiction of the ViceAdmiralty of the said Colony of New Zealand. To hear and determine the same, according to the rights, statutes, laws, ordinances, and customs anciently observed, with power of deputing and surrogating in my place for the premises, one or more Deputy or Deputies, under me, for the said office and execution thereof. Now I, the Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Colony of New Zealand aforesaid, in pursuance of the above authority, do hereby appoint Edmund Storr Halswell, Esquire, Barrister-at-Law, County Judge of the Southern District of New Ulster, my Deputy, with full power to take cognizance of and proceed in all matters, and to hear and determine the same in manner aforesaid. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that on Monday, June 6, 1542, the township of Wanganui and Country Sections in that district, will be thrown open for selection at the Resident Surveyor's Office at Wanganui, at 11 a.m. precisely, and close at 4 p.m. ; one half the choices will be made on the first day, and the remainder on the second or following days. The Plans will lie open for inspection at the Principal Surveyor's Office at Wellington , and at the Resident Surveyor's Office at Wanganui, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily until the day of selection. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEY, that a Surveyor will leave this Office on Monday, May 23rd, at 9 a.m. precisely, and will proceed to the district of Ohariufor the purpose of pointing out to Proprietors and Agents the Preliminary Country Sections chosen in this distiict at the last selection, viz., on the 7th and Sth April, 1842. Proprietors and Agents interested in this district, are accordingly requested to accompany the Surveyor to the Ohariu, that they may be made acquainted with the boundaries of the several sections, since the Principal Surveyor will not undertake to point them out on any other than the day above stated. WHEREAS, within the last three months, an Original Land Order of the First and Principal Settlement of land purchased from the New Zealand Company of London, issued in the name of Cornelius Haynes Butler, Esq., being No. 112 of choice, and duly transferred to tne subscriber, and duplicate thereof has fallen aside or been lost. Notice is hereby given, that a liberal reward will be paid to any person who will produce the said ,Land Orders within three months of this date to the Subscriber ; and should they be found in the possession of any party after that date, they will be dealt with according to law.
