ITIHE Directors of the New Zealand Land JL Company hereby give notice, that they have effected an arrangement with the Union Bank of Australia, No. 38, Old Broad-street, London, for the establishment of a BRANCH BANK IN NEW ZEALAND, through which the business of the New Zealand Land Company will be transacted. The Directors therefore recommend to Colonists the Union Bank of Australia as an establishment possessing their entire confidence, and able to provide effectually for the financial wants of the first settlement. Hickson and Sons, 20, West Smithfield, London, transacting a large amount of Foreign business, will receive consignments of New Zealand produce, and undertake to effect sales upon the most advantageous terms that can be obtained in London, according to the state of the market. As land-owners in Port Nicholson, they have an interest in promoting the prosperity of the Colony, and will have great pleasure in discharging the duties of Consignees. They refer in New Zealand to Mr. Revans and Mr. St. Hill. In London to their bankers, Messrs. Prweott, Grote, and C«. Port of London. " Notice to the Public. — Travellers and others who send baggage, works of art, or other value property to England, should consign the packages to the care of a licensed Custom-house agent, as articles are frequently injured, and needless expense incurred, for the want of a proper person to take charge of them on their arrival, and see them entered, examined, and carefully repacked. DEVOY and CO., who are Vie LICENSED AGENTS of Her Majesty's Commissioners of Customs, and under heavy londs for the safety of property consigned^ to them, beg those who send packages to their care, to see that each be distinctly marked "Devoy and Co., Lower Thames-street, London," andtho bill of lading or receipt forwarded to them direct by post, with instructions how such goods are to be disposed of on arrival ; and as every package must be opened at the Custom-house, if any are locked, the keys should be forwarded. Goods and packages are forwarded by Devoy ! and Co. to all parts of the Continent, the East i and West Indies, Colonies, &c. &c. ; and, if required, sent to the care of responsible houses, who will see the instructions sent with them punctually attended to. All goods and packages for shipment must be accompanied by written instructions, with the name and address of the parties by whom they are sent, and the contents and value of each package stated. The duty outwards is 10s. per £100 value. The rate of insurance depends upon circumstances. For further information apply to Mr. Samuel Revans, Wellington, Port Nicholson. j
