GOVERNMENT NOTICE. Police Office, Port Nicholson, 12th October, 1840. NOTICE TO SAWYERS & OTHERS. NO SAWYER or other person will be permitted to cut timber or erect houses on any native reserve. . No Sawyer or other person will be permitted to cut timber on any other land, without the written permission from the owner of such land, the permission to be also signed by the Police Magistrate before it can be acted upon. Any person found, (after this notice,) breaking the foregoing regulations, will be apprehended and punished according to law. MICHAEL MURPHY, r Chief Police Magistrate. PUBLIC NOTICE. INTIMATION is hereby given, tfiat the following articles of Provisions will be sup,r> plied to families and housekeepers, at theJNew Zealand Company's Stores, payable on delivery.. Flour, one barrel at a time, at five-pence "per^ pound. *" ~*r Salt Beef, in quantities of 281b5., 561b5., and 1121b5., at seven-pence per pound. Salt Pork, in same quantities, at eight-pence per pound. No dealers or others supplied to sell again.
