The Fete will take place as soon after the appropriation of the Town Sections as the Committee determine will suit public convenience. The following list of diversions have been determined upon, and the members of the Committee named are to be addressed respecting the arrangements. A Rowing Match, consisting of whale boats owned by the residents <Jf Port Nicholson. Ist prize, £20 ; 2nd, £10 ; 3rd, £5. No race unless five boats start. Entrance fee, £2 each boat. And a Sailing Match, by boats owned by residents. Ist prize, £10 ; 2nd, £5. Entrance, £1 ; — managing member, Capt. Chaffers. A Canoe Race, by Natives, £10 to be awarded as a prize, and a War Dance ; — managing member, Mr. R. Barrett. k A Hukdle Race. Ist horse, £15 ; End to save his stakes. Entrance fee, £3 each horse. Three horses to start, or no race ; — managing member, Mr. James Watt. A Rifle Match. Ist prize, £25, to purchase a rifle ; 2nd, £10, to purchase a fowling piece ; 3rd, £5, to purchase a brace of pistols. Entrance fee, £1 ; — managing members, Messrs. Molesworth and Duppa. Wrestling Match, Climbing Poles, Foot Races, &c. £20 awarded for the same ; — managing members, Messrs. Dodery and Barrett. THE BALL. Each subscriber of £2 is allowed to introduce the ladies of his acquaintance ; — managing members, Major Baker and Messrs. Dorset and R. Strang. All members of the Committee are empowered to receive subscriptions. NEW 22ALANDIC VOCABULARY, &c. &c. Dedicated by permission to Colonel William Wakefield, Principal Agent to the New Zealand Land Company. By the Rev. J. G. Butler, Native Guardian, and Interpreter to the New Zealand Land Company. rp HE SUBSCRIBERS to the above Work are JL informed, that it has been determined to issue it in monthly parts of 24 pages demy Bvo. each. This plan has been adopted, in order to put the Colonists in possession of the material parts of the Language as early as possible ; and they will thus have an opportunity of gaining a knowledge of it progressively. It_ is noped that this arangement will give satisfaction to the present subscribers, and be the means of gaining an accession from those who may not feel justified or cannot conveniently pay the whole amount at one period. The work will be completed in 6 monthly parts. The price of each part will be, To Subscribers 10d. To Non Subscribers Is. The first will be issued on the Ist of August, and be continued regularly on the Ist of each month, until completed. CHARCOAL. MESSRS. CLARK and BATTRASS beg to inform the public that they have commenced Charcoal Burning, and that the public can now have a regular supply, at Mr. Pierces, the Britannia Stores.
