Thomas Meighan, who plays the role of Tom Burke, in " The Miracle Man," a Paramount-Artcraft picture produced by George Loane Thicker, recently received the following telegram from. 11. H. Davis, editor of the magazine in which Frank L. Packard's story originally appeared : '' Have* you seen ' The Miracle • Man ?'' It is the finest interpretation of the drama of life flashed -on the celluloid. The cast is a genius. It will sweep. the world. All peoples can comprehend it.—lt. H. Davis." *- iv *- Lois Wilson has signed a contract with Paramount-Artcraft as leading Her first picture under the newcontract is in support of Bryant Washburn in- " It Pays to Advertise." * * * * Frank Losee and William P. Carlton, leading men, have each signed a one-year contract with ParamountArtcraft. * *• ••».-' .*• Maurice Tourneur has begun filming Robert Louis Stevenson's famous story, "Treasure Island," for Para-mount-Artcraft. Included in the cast are Jack Holt, Wallace Beery and "Bull" Montana. - -« * A contract has been signed whereby Mr and Mrs Carter de Haven, wellknown vaudevillians and motion picture stars, will produce sixteen tworeel comedies for Paramouiit-Artcraft. 'lhis gives this organisation an* option of the best comedies produced on the screen to-day. Included in the list are the . Mack Seunett comedies, the Ernest Truex comedies, and the Carter - de Haven comedies. .■ * -K- * . A treat is in , store for followers of the terpsichorean art when they see the Paramount-Ince picture, "John Petticoats," starring Bill ~ Hart. In this picture, Mr Hart/ shows up Mrs .Vernon Castle and the rest with his dancing of " Turkey in the Straw " among high society folk. *- William P. Carlton, leading man for Miss Elsie Ferguson, in "The Avalanche," and her latest ParamountArtcraft picture, " A Society Exile," tells the following story: It deals with the difficulty of understanding American slang. He was in London playing lead in " The Belle of New York." He was searching for a restaurant that had been recommended ■ by a friend, and approached a "Bobby" for information. "Three blocks ahead, turn to the right, follow your nose, and there you are," was the reply. This he "did and got, lost again. Seeing another "Bobby" he approached him. " Say, old man ; I just struck a policeman up the street, and he " "You did? Come right along with me."
