A propos of last week's big blaze at Stratford a local correspondent writes to the Free .Lance: "The fire was a bit exciting, but also a hit disappointing. It should have gone along the whole block as the buildings are very dilapidated and a few new ones would not in any way spoil the look of ;the town. That's the second fire during the two years I've been here. They don't eater much excitement for the public in that direction. It's a-change getting up at midnight instead of going to bed. then. The fire lasted from 12 till about 2.30, but as the blaze went down it began to get cold, so we wen't home. It's still the topic of the town even though it is two days' old!"
