tary in charge of tlae arrangements' is leaving nothing to chance (except the weather) in order that a thoroughly good day'si sport for all entrants may ensue. At Easter, the Centre proposes to hold a Patriotic Pairs Tourney, which should find favour with the large majority of bowlers who cannot arrange to go out of town for the holidays. It is several years now since the Centre controlled a pairs tourney, and entries should be large, both on account of the cause and the pleasure derivable from the games. Players interested in the matter of getting their bowls tested should take steps to have them attended to without delay in order to have a clean start for next season. Mr. Murray, the new-ly-appointed tester to the Association, commemced operations on the Newtown ■green this week. He particularly asks that when sending in bowls the owner's name and full instructions, i.e., testing only, or altering to one draw, etc., etc.. as well as testing and stamping, be enclosed.
But, oh! the red, the x-oyal red, It reigns as regent of the heart, Replacing those that seaward sped When war hurl'd far his flaming dart! May angel pinions ever bar His deadly thrust, the wound, the smart, And shield the noble N.Z.R. Till Peace sails home by Honour's chart. Goode Hamilton. Wellington.
