The electors are refened to the mvi,- ' tation of the Greater/ Wellington Town and Municipual Electors' As socia-won m this issue to solidly suppoit the Citizens' Ticket. It computes the names of Councillors who have proved themselves to be reliable and progressive. Mr. C. B. Norwood, who is a eandi--date for the City Council places his views clearly belore the' electors in this issue. He has strong claims to support. For many years he was the en.gineer of, the Gas Company, and he is out for reforms. The sports in the community ai e also exhorted by advt. to suppoit the candidates, whose names aie given. These ■are men who have identified themselves with the "wholesome and manly spoits of the people Councillor W. J. Thompson, who stands ~foi ie-election and whose' photo .appears in this issue, has been in the City Council foi the past five yeais and is out foi pxogiess on sound business lines. He believes in undertaking large, permanent works out. ! of loans, not outof rates. ■Mr Thompson has been President of the Employers' Association for the las£ two years and is an active member of the Industrial Association. He has strongly suppoited the impiovement of: our city reserves. Councillor J. E. Titzgeiald (see his advt. elsewhere). bases his claims to reelection on, past service and his r constant advocacy of progress on business lines. He declines to be identified with any ticket or clique, preferring 'to be an independent candidate. His aims . are set, forth' '.in his advt., elsewhere. They_are all on expert progressive lines. Mr Fitzgerald hias.proved himself to be ah- able and fearless critic in the City ',■ Orancil. • ; rEobert Fletcher, whose chairman-ship--.of, the; Harbour Board was. marked , by great: harbour improvements and a sound finance stands for re-election to the Board. His public services are so great and various that his, re-election ought to be beyond doubt. Still his supporters must not fall asleep. Mr W. T.i Hildreth announces elser .where that he'offers himself for 'election to both City Council and Harbour Board. On both, those bodies,. @s well on the. Kaaori Borough Council, he has already done yeoman service. He is -a •well-knowii ihighly-esteemed citizen. - .Mr John Castle. publishes his platform' in this, issue and announces that -he'.will address the electors in the State Schoolroom, Kdddiford Street, on Monxiav night. Mr John Castle is well arid favourably known and the energy he* has displayed on behalf of public improvements—the Zoo 'is a notable case in point—should strongly,commend him to the electors' support at the poll. Mr' Frank McParland is out as an independent candidate for a-City Coun--eil seat and his address elsewhere should strongly appeal to every sport in the community. Frank McParland is a straight goer, and never will be found sitting on the rails. He- is on no ticket, but paddles his own canoe. Mr William Cable,, "Wellington's oldest and best known iron-master, reminds " the electors in this issue that he is seeking rereleetion to the < Harbour .Board. Mr Cable is too useful a man to be spared. He represents a leading. industry ' and has •■been, f or. years ;. the strongest advocate for a floating dock for the .port of Wellington. He is • the enterprising employer of hundreds. <>f men ajad his ten years' service on the Board proves that he is a practical member of the very, best type. Mr Cable's re-election ought to be a. sure thing. Mr J. S. Swan, a candidate for the City Council, is a practical business .man. , He is a, member of-the firm -of Swan and Swan, architects, and has been a Wellington resident for over 40 years--in fact, he was born here. " He -should "prove,' if elected, a very useful City Councillor. ;..,-.• J. O. Shorland, who offers himself as a candidate for the City Council, is favourably, known as a good' sport. He ias always taken an active interest in the city's progress. The electors of Onslow are advised by advertisement elsewhere to vote solidly for the ticket of candidates who are pledged to vote against the catch-, jnent scheme and to cast their votes for a water and. drainage systeaa which -shall be linked up with that of the city. Mr J. M. Dale is the Mayoral candi•date' and the Councillor candidates are MJessrs Buddy Burt, iHobbs, Appleton, Toppj and Tucker Mr 3£. A. Wright, M.P., announces in this issue thatne seeks re-election to the Wellington) City Council and also to the Harbour Board. Mr Wright has been a useful, painstaking; and enlighb ened member of bo£h, these locaj. bodies •and his fine Tecord should cause the -electors to make sure of hie return. Mr Martin XucHe, the well-known ■solicitor, has won his spurs as a Citjy Councillor by four years' spirited ser~vioe. He is an old boy of Wellington College and takes a„ keen interest in • -civic affairs. Young, active, aid pro"gressive spirits like. Mr Iraekis are •wanted .on our public bodies.
