Where the Peaceful Man Should Be.
A' the men that winna fecht, Send them o'er tae Germany; Of every nine I'd banish "eeht" O'er the sea tae Germany. That's the place tae voice their views— We can easily fill their shoes; AuLd Kaiser Bill will gi'e them news,. When they go tae Germany. Dinna preach intil a hall, O'er ye go to Germany; Sympathetic voices call, They need advice in Germany, Tell them that their system's wrongs Sing tae them a peaceful song; Your pilgrimage will not be long After you're in Germany. Wave the red flag to the breeze, , , When yer o'er in Germany, They'll welcome you on bended knees. When you land in Germany ; But no tae humbly kiss your hand; They'll rule you with an iron wand, And shoot ye if ye dinna stand And face the foes of Germany.
Britain's great and Britain's free; . Tyrants reign in Germany; He who abuses liberty Should be sent to Germany. Our brave lads that's o'er the sea Are facing death for you and me. Cowards and traitors a' should l be Hanged or sent tae Germany. —Alf. T. Matthews. Arbroath.
