Mr. J. Mandel is taking charge of the United Service Hotel, Christehurch, and. has alsc acquired the lease of the Grand Hotel, Wellington. The former Hotel is under the personal charge of Mr. Manlel, and the "Grand" will be managed by Mr. E. Page (late' of Auckland) Both Houses will be run in conjunction at the same rates. The tariff is now fixed at 12/6 per day (Commercial Rate 10/6) and weekly by arrangement. The Grand Hotel, Wellington, is a thoroughly fireproof building with concrete walls and stone staircases.
