ANOTHER GERMAN HORROR.
The Cavell Atrocity;
THE cold-blooded assassination of poor Miss Ca veil, the British nurse,whose only offence was that she helped British soldiers to escape from the Hun fiends who have so systematically ill-treated their prisoners, has sent _ a thrill of horror throughout the Empire. Neither sex nor youth makes the faintest appeal to the Huns when the opportunity presents , itself.... for wreaking vengeance upon some unfortunate woman of an enemy nation. Miss Cavell's offence against military law, if such offence could be lawfullyproved, would have been adequately punished by a term, of imprisonment. But, the German insane hatred of England and the English had to be fed by some specially ..vile- deed. And so the orders came from the German War Office —signed, ho/ doubt, by the "All Highest" War Lord -himself—that the poor creature should "be ■ "executed." * * * * As to the details of that "execution" —"murder 5 ' is the right term to, apply • —we cannot trust ourselves to comment calmly upon their hidepusness., So long as Britain exists as a nation, there should be held in infamous memory the name of the vile ruffian who fired; his revolver into the prostrate body of that unfortunate Englishwoman. It is enough to make any Briton with good red blood in his veins to rise up and register a solemn oath to treat each and every German henceforth as a veritable leper.
