The match between Y.M.C.A. and Wadestown provided the large number of spectators present at the Basin with the best exhibition yet given in the 4th B grade. The display was well up to the standard of many of the A division teams. .From the start the game was fast and open, Wadestown attacking the south goal, and it was not long before they opened their account from a corner, the_ goalkeeper being pushed through with the ball in his possession. Although . Wadestown had the best of the play, no further score was recorded at half-time.. The second spell saw Y.M.C.A. assert themselves, and. from a scramble near goal, were awarded a penalty, which, gave Portman no chance. For handling a further penalty was given, and this was also o-oaled. This change in the aspect of the game saw both teams striving hard for supremacy, but the colours held the upper hand until ten minutes before time, when Rarity added another goal for the Blues, mating the game 2 all. For Wadestown, Wanden (full-back), Hughes fright wing) and Rarity (centre half), and for Y.M.C.A. Galloway (left wing). Pike (right half), and Scott (centre forward) were best. * * * * As anticipated l , the match between Y.M.C.A. and Marist was the match of the season. _ _ Both teams were in the best of condition and both out to win. This determination was shown .right from_ the start. Y.M.C.A. Scored the opening goal after ten minutes had gone, and the next few jtuinutes saw the • leather again piloted through, making 2—o. This reverse had an enlivening effect upon the greens, who showed that they had not lost heart, but the opposing backs proved too solid, and t>lay was changed to the other end, where Y.M.C.A. added a third goal.

In the second half play was more of a give-and-take nature, the strenuous game in the first half having told on the players. The last twenty minutes saw some nne play, Marist being awarded a goal. Y.M.C.A. now came swooping down, and a shot from the right wing hit the cross-bar and rebounded into the field of play. The whistle sounded with Y.M.C.A. attacking.
