Lance-Corporal A. JACKA, of the 14th Victorian Battalion, who won the y.C. for conspicuous bravery on the night of May 19th at Courtney's Point. According to a Melbourne paper he was holding portion of a trench, which four of the enemy heavily attacked. When all of them had been killed seven Turks rushed the trench He gallantly attacked them single-handed. He killed five by rifle fire and two with the bayonet.
