Memoria in Eterna.
To the Australians and New Zealanders who fell at Gallipoli. (For the N.Z. Free Lance.) Oh, gallant souls, • who chose the better part And rallied gladly at your country's call, Far from your homes and those you held most dear For King and Empire you have given all; "But on the endless roll-call of your land Your names are writ, to live throughout the years, And in the hearts of those you loved there shines A pride, a splendour far too deep for tears. To-day you rank with those immortal souls Who won for England her undying fame,
Your dauntless courage on those Aeqean Heights Shall add fresh lustre to her ancient name; Now where vou fell you take your last long rest Our deathless dead, for whom all battles cease, Sleep well, brave hearts, your duty nobly done., ' - For you has dawned an everlasting peace. ■ • —Pat. Scarlett.
