TOOTHING of moment has happened ijß in the local tennis world these last couple of weeks. The strike has completely overshadowed everything else, and 6uch an important matter as the Association acquiring a tennis ground—a •burning question before the strike arrived —has been almost forgotten for the time being. The New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association's excess of income over expenditure for the 1912-1913 season amounted to £139 Is Id. This, with the balance of £207 16s 8d carried forward from the previous season, made the surplus ac—' count total £346 16s-9d —quite a tidy little sum. The .harvest reaped out of the Australasian. championship? at Hastings last season put up a record, the net profit being £196 18s 9d, of which £76 14s 4d went to the Hastings Club, and the New Zealand Association's share was £120 4s sd. Over the English tour the Association emerged with a net loss of £6 12s Bd. The tour was well worth it. J. O. Anderson, who defeated H. A. Parker in the final in the Metropolitan tournament at Sydney the other day, is welcomed by one Sydney paper as, the • new champion.- ago he was wel-> corned as a promising colt. A. F. Wilding is to represent Australasia in the covered court championships at Stockholm. If he wins this he will have secured the whole- three world's singles championships—on grass, on hard courts, and .on covered courts. Evidently, though Wellington doesn't seem able to get new grass courts, other centres can.
