PORT Nicholson Yacht Club has issued its programme. Its opening day takes place early next month, and a general handicap "has been arranged for both classes, un November 15tE handicap races will be held for first and second classes; November 22nd and 29th the some: On tha 6th December-will be instituted a "Retired -Yachtsmen's!' race; it'will be interesting to see some of the old hands so well known to many residents <in . "On • tho 11th January, a .ladies' race for both classes will be helcL January 22nd is set apart for the annual re^fatta, January 31st the ocean race,. and 'ebruary 21st for the* firet and second class championships.

The second class- races will- be robbed of a great deal of interest owing to the paucity of competitors, the only likely starters being the Taipari, Wharehou (a patiki) and Dauntless (also a patiki).

The first class ranks will be augmented try the presence of the Atalanta and the Waitangi, both, notable performers. The Cruising Club races will be interesting this year owing to the various improvements effected by the owners of feeveral yachts! ~ The ? Ailsa wDI ' sport new sails, also the Rona. The Kotiri is having an alteration .to her deadwood.. which the skipper" reckons' will increase her speed.

Next week "jvill see, nearly all the boats afloat. The Amai is at ner moorings, and all the Evans Bay fleet expect to be out on Labour Day.

The Queenie, a double-ender built by *£ed Bailey, and which made a nam© for herself by winning her first race in a gale of wind, went ashore during the last southerly, but luckily escaped any serious damage. She has changed owners, and is likely to join the ranks of the auxiliary fleet.
