There was recently conferred "upon Mr. Peter Jeffrey Mackie, of Glenreasdell, Argyllshire. Scotlandj ■ the wellknown, "White Horee" distiller, the unique distinction of being an honorary life member of the 'Highland. Society ofl New South Wales. This honour was bestowed at a special meeting of the members of the society, when Mr. Mackie was also presented with a gold and enamel badge designed and executed in Sydney, "as an evidence of the kindly feelings.of a large, and influential- body of Scots abroad, towards one of their countrymen who has evinced a practical interest in thedr efforts to cultivate and foster a love for the literature, history, music, and sports of Scotland."
