Wellington Pony and Galloway Racing Club.

The above club are to open a threedays' meeting on their increasinglypopular course at Miramar to-monow (Saturday), when a fine progiamme of evernts will be decided. The patrons of Miramar racing increase commensurately with the admirable conduct of the racing eyents out there. In Mr. J. M. Cummiing's able hands tie meetings at Miramar have been so well carried out, both as regards the superintendence of general appointments on ihe ground and also the excellence of ifoe sport, that the Miramar pony races ihave become an attraction second to none to many of our Wellington sporting fraternity. As usual, the arrangements for Saturday's meeting (the first day) are perfect. A special tram service is arranged for from Courtenay Place, and ladies will be admitted to all parts of the course free of charge. The first race is timed for 2.30 p.m.

The Hibernian, Society and the Catholic Ghib have again joined forces this year, and intend to celebrate St. Patrick's Day an an appropriate manner. The day will be devoted to a picnic at the Lower Hntt, at the Rev. Father Lane's grounds, and the committee intend to convey the children attending the Catholic schools of the city to the seethe of the festival free of charge. A miscellaneous sports programme for both children and adults has been arranged, and an enjoyable outing is promised. • • • In the evening a grand Irish national' concert will be held in the concert chamber of the Town Hall. The services of Messrs. Parkes and Reid and Misses Ruby McDonald, May Driscoll, and Lorraine Tansley, and Mrs. Amy Hyde Woodward have been secured, and the public are promised some really first-class items. His Excellency the Governor, Sir Joseph and Lady Ward, His Grace Archbishop Redwood, and His Worship the Mayor and Mrs. Hislop have given their patronage. • • • In another column will be found an important announcement by T.
