With Petone leading, six to three, And ''Ones" piessmg tight. The whistle blew, a fiee kick there, And Roberts took the. ball, And, kicking high right into play, Hus forwaids followed ail. And "Basikey," rushing swift and sure, Grabbed tho Leathei fiom the ground And scored a try which caused the 01 owd To oheer him lound on round. Converted by the tiusty Fred, The score lead eight to sax, With ' Ones" leading t'hius by two, And Petone m a fix. The battle waged more hard amd! fast, And "Ones" twioe were forced, But still Petone couldn't score, And they thought the game was lost. But suddenly the baill oame out And' Bill 'Ardham held it tight; He hesitated, looked around, Then potted with his right.
