STEAM SERVICE NEW ZEALAND Tl ENDERS are invited by the New Zealand Government — First, for a direct steam service between New Zealand ports and South Africa: second, for a service between New Zealand ports and South Africa, via Fremantle, with permission to call at one other port in Australia. Tenderers to state the maximum amount of refrigerator »paoe. Tenderers to state, maximum accommodation for live stock. The speed of steamers to be not less than ten knots (ooeanj going), with, penalty and bonds on a scale to be arranged, but not to exceed £500 per voyage. The steamers to load 1 at four selected ports m New Zealand in geographical order, and to discharge at the three following ports in South Africa : Durban, Port Elizabeth, and Table Bay. The rates of freight from New Zealand ports to South Africa shall not be greater than the following: Wheat, at per ton weight, 27s 6d. Flour, at per ton weight, 27s 6d. Barley, at per ton weight, 27s 6d. Oats, at per ton weight, 27s 6d. Bran, at pea- ton weight, 30s. -c-otatpes, in sacks, at per ton weight 32s 6d. Potatoes, in boxes, at per ton of 50 cubic feet measurement, 30s. Hay, oaten, or meadow, pressed in bales, at per ton of 50 cubic feet measurement, 32s 6d. Horses and fiill-grown, cattle, £10 10s each. Frozen meat andi dairy produce at current summer rates ruling between New Zealand and London. Other goods at pates current between New Zealand and London. The rates of freight from New Zealand to Fremantle must not .exceed the rates current from time to time from Sydney and Melbourne to Fremantle. Tenderers to state, irhat period oftime required before berthing the first steamer in New Zealand, such time to count from the date of acceptance of tender. Tenderers are required to state the different amounts of subsidy required per voyage for either of the services. Should any dispute arise over minor points 1 , the matter in dispute shall be referred 1 to arbitration. A deposit of £2000 is to accompany each tender, and in the case of thesucoessful tenderer to be returned upon completion of a satisfactory charter.
