Observer came to hand too late for insertion to-day. Will appear to-morrow. We regret that we can only insert Captain Meredith’s letter as an advertisement. The case is no doubt a hard one, but then the dispute is between the parties themselves, and is not a public matter. In answer to the question whether the mails sent by the ‘ Queen’ on her last trip were detained, we are informed that these mails were sent on by the • Phoebe.’
