POLICE COURT— Saturday.

(Before Tiros. Beckham, Esq., R.M.) Drunkards. —William Hall, George Hewett, an I Michael Sulivan were fined 40s. and costs, or 43 hours’ imprisonment.—Solomon H. Levy was committed for nine days for the same offence. Drunk on Board Ship.— Augustus Johnstone was charged by Charles U. Bartlett, master of the ‘ Scoti o’ with being drunk and riotous. Prosecutor said yesterday, on coming down to the vessel, he saw a crowd of people on the wharf near the ship, and some very bad language was made use of by prisoner, >vho was drunk. On going on board, prisoner asked for his discharge, and on refusing it, his conduct wa* very riotous, and his language unfit to be repeated in Court. Fined 40s. and costs, or seven days. Deserter.— Charles E. Zener was charged with deserting from the 50th Regt. Ordered to be handed over to the main guard. Embezzlement.— James Williamson was charged by W. 0. Chislett, Deputy Assistant Commissary General, with embezzling, on Monday, the 24th inst., at Auckland, certain of her Majesty’s Naval aud Military Stores, to wit, 12 beds, 6 wrappers, 30 blankets, 6 bed covers, 2 pillows, 1 stretcher, 40 hammocks, 2 pillow cases, and I bag of corn. Mr. Merriman, for the prosecution, asked for a remand, in order that the case might be gone through at one sitting. Mr. Beveridge, for prisoner, asked that bail might be allowed. Prisoner was then remanded until Tuesday. Bail was to be allowed on finding three sureties in £2OO each. Sufficient security was given. The Court then adjourned.
