Mr. J. S. Macfarlane sold by auction on Wednesday, property at Wangarei, now in the occupation of Sir Osborne Gibbes. It comprised 270 acres of land with houses and improvements. The price realised was £735. Mr. Joseph Cochrane also sold by auction at bis Mart, a quantity of Boots and Shoes. The sale was very dull and the prices obtained were below the average. Messrs. Ridings & Dowden had an extensive sale of Drapery, Clothing, &c. There was a large quantity of purchasers, and the prices obtained appeared to be satisfactory.
On Wednesday, Messrs. Jones & Co. sold a large quantity of Furniture at Messrs. Cruickshank, Smart, & Co.’s new store, High-street. The following are some of the prices obtained:—Mahogany Chelfonier, £4 7s. G.; Walnut do., £8 2s. 6J. ; Toilet Glasses, Gs, to 3Gs. each; Beech Chairs, ss. 9d. each; Imitation Rosewood do., Gs. each ; Spanish Mahogany do., 225. to 40s. each; Mahogany Sideboard, £9 55.; Do., open, £9; Rosewood Table, £8 2s.
