Notice. Police Department, Commissioner's Office, Auckland, 26th September, 1863. IT is hereby notified that a man whose description is given below, was found drowned oft’ Smale’s Point on the morning of Saturday, the 26th instant, at about 9 o’clock a. m. Any person who may have a knowledge of, or who may be able to afford any information relative to him, is requested to be good enough to communicate the same to the undersigned at the Police Office, before 2 o’clock p.m., THIS DAY, the 28th instant, in order that the particulars may be produced at the Coroner's Inquest, which will be held at that time at the Royal Hotel, Official Bay. WHEREAS on Sunday, August 30th, some malicious person did strike on the tail root with the head of an axe an Heifer, running on my land, whereby she sustained grievous injury. Any person giving such information as will lead to the conviction of the offender will receive a reward of FIVE POUNDS. Also, between Monday the 7th and 17th of September, some malicious person did dangerously cut under the tail root, with the edge of an axe and ham string a white long horned Cow, and take from her neck a bell and chain.
