ON THURSDAY LAST, 23rd July, 1863, a PUBLIC MEETING was held at Morton's Hotel, Bourkestreet, J. H. Clough, Esq., in the chair, when the programme as advertised below was agreed to. Considerable discussion took place as to the most desirable date to hold the Show on, and on the motion of Mr. Learmonth, seconded by Mr. Greene, it was decided that the date should be , THURSDAY, 12th November, 1863. was also agreed to leave the appointment of Judges (who e be seven in number) in the hands of the Committee, and that their election shall be by ballot. A suggestion made by J. L. Currie, Esq., as to the mode of receiving the Judges' decision, was generally approved of, viz. : "That three of the Judges should first go round the pens, and give their decision in writing to the Secretary. That the next three should do likewise ; and in the event of their decisions disagreeing, that the seventh Judge should be called in to decide between them." This mode of operation was not absolutely fixed upon, it being left to the Committee to determine upon any other course which may be deemed more desirable, or more likely to give general satisfaction. It was unanimously agreed to that it would be advisable that each of the neighbouring colonies competing should be represented among the Judges, and to have this effected it would be necessary that the Secretary should be informed of the names of those gentlemen who are capable and willing to act. Mr. Skilling, the secretary of the Port Philip Agricultural Society, was present, and from his remarks it is most likely that their annual show will come off on the same day, in which case the whole of the sheep-pens will be reserved for the Champion Show. The members of committee are as follows : Mr. CLOUGH (J. H. Clough & C 0.,) Melbourne. " PARKER (R. Goldsbrough & Co.) do. " MACREDIE (Cunninghams and Macredie,)do.
