"THE FRONT."
We give the'following extract from the letter of our own correspondent at Pokeno under date 13th inst:
“It was the Mangatawhiri that the soldiers, some 250 in number, crossed on Sunday morning. The natives at the Maori village of Pokeno not being willing to give up their arms, were, last Friday, given notice to quit or they would be removed; they accordingly departed, leaving their carts, harness, saws, &c,, &c., of which the troops took possession.”
