ADELAIDE.
[From the "South .Vi.trahan Advertiser,” October 23] Adelaide, October 24,1862 Transactions during the month have been very] and prices have gradually receded, but not sufficient!? to induce local speculators to busy. The attempts that were made to raise prices only served to withdraw some of the orders on hand, and the shipments of the lait month are less than half those of the precedin'* At the early pan of the month (the end of Sept ) prices were ss. 6d. per bushel of sixty lbs. for wheat for delivery at the Port, since which it has gradually receded to 4s. 9d., but vhich latter price is only nominal as there are no buyers. Flour has ruled nominally from £l3 to £ll ner t™ of 2,000 lbs. m The approaching harvest promises to be abundant and is an increase on all previous years, added to that on the Ist December next, on which day the cereal rear is considered by some to begin; unless we have large shipment during November there will be at least 15,000 tons of wheat and flour remaining. Under such’circumstances prices must necessarily recede to a level with prices in England, after deducting the cost of transit.
