GAS APPARATUS FOR PRIVATE USE, FACTORIES, TOWNS, AND CITIES. STEAM ENGINES, BOILERS AND CASTINGS. MR. BOWER, of St. Ncots, England, is the Manufacturer of Gas Apparatus of all dimensions. He has in stock the plant <or all sizes from 20 up to 2000 lights, and he will deliver an order within one month from receipt of it. Testimonials and references to a selected list of 100 out of a great number of Gas Works erected by him in England and various parts of Europe, together with calculations of the cost of gas—specifications—price lists and other particulars, will be forwarded on application. With coal at 50s. per ton, gas may be manufactured where 50 lights arc required, burning for eight or 100 for four hours per day, at Bs. per 1000 cubic feet:—the price of this apparatus is £135. With 500 lights burning eight or 1000 burning for four hours per day, at ss. 6d. per 1000 cubic feet:—the price of this apparatus is £640. Delivery—free in London inclusive of packing and cases. These estimates of cost of gas allow for wear and tear—five per cent, for capital and three per cent, for renewing plant when worn out. The pipe with fittings for factory use may be taken »o cost an average of £1 per light, f. o. b. in London. Although coal is the best material for gas-making yet it may be made from cotton or other seed—peat—bark wood—oil—in tiict, any thing that will burn with a Hume. Mr. Bower supplies cast iron pipe,—lamp columns and brackets,—wrought and composition tube,—meters, —and gas fittings in general. In ordering it will be well to give a [dan to scale, of the factory or house, showing the positions assigned for the gas works and of the lights. It is also necessary to state the longest time the lights will be burning per night. Instructions tor fixing and plans, &c., forwarded with the hills of lading.
