GENTLEMEN, —I beg to offer myself as a candidate for thc office of Superintendent of thc Prot"u CC ?X Auckland . I1(JW vacant by the resignation of John Williamson, Esq. In doing so thus early, I wish to avoid the more formal process of waiting for a requisition, being aware that requisitions on such occasions, are simply expressions of party feeling, which mmy case I wish to avoid. Belong to no party in the 1 rovince, I am under no personal engagement to servo any; and I do not now wish to lay myself under anv party obligations. My sole desire in coming forward at this juncture, is to serve the Province to thc best of my ability; and unless elected to the office to which I aspire by a very general record of public feeling in my fa\our, I have no wish to be returned, well knowing that unless I am placed in a strong position, my means of usefulness will be greatly impaired. , I shall have another opportunity of expressing my views as to the duties attached to the office—meanwhile, I beg to solicit the support of all those who have confidence in my character and ability for the trust thus sought, pledging myself if my election should be secured to promote as far as possible thc prosperity of the province. The New Zealand Agricultural Society’s ANNUAL CATTLE SHOW WILL be held at NEWMARKET, on WEDNESDAY, the 12th day of November, 1862. COMMITTEE OF MANAGEMENT. Mb. W. T. Runciman, Mr. Thomas Shepherd, Jim. Exhibitors of poultry will be required to find their own pens. Entries for sheep-shearing to be made on the ground, at thc Secretary’s office by one o’clock, and thc shearing will commence at two o’clock. Implements must be on the ground and placed at lateston the day previous to the Show. All stock to be on thc ground before nine o’clock, and from nine to half-past nine will be admitted on payment of double entrance fees ; none will be admitted after that hour. Thc receipt given by the Secretary for stock at time of entry must be delivered to thc gate-keeper of the yard by the person who brings the stock, or admission will bo denied. No stock exhibited to be removed from its place until after four o’clock on thc day of Show. The Society will not, under any circumstances, hold itself responsible for loss, damage, or mis-delivery of live stock or other articles exhibited at thc Society’s Show. Any prize may be withheld when thc Judges are of opinion that there is not sufficient merit in the stock exhibited for such prize to justify an award. All protests must be left with the Secretary before 2 o’clock on the day of the Show. All servants coming in charge of Stock will he subject to thc orders of the Director and Stewards of thc Yard. The Gates will be open for thc Public at 12 o’clock. Admission, Is. each. Catalogues free. Instructions to the Director and Stewards. Thc Director and Stewards arc instructed fo take care that no Member of Committee, Stranger, or Exhibitor, bo admitted into the Cattle Yard, under any pretence whatever, until the Show Yard is open to thc Public. The Committee delegates full power to thc Director and Stewards to enforce all the Regulations. As soon as the Judges shall in each case have made their decision of an award, the prize animal shall be distinguished as the winner by different coloured prize cards.
