HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

The second exhibition of the season came off on Thursday last, on the Government grounds. There was an excellent display both of fruit and flowers. The nectarines of Mr. Creamer, and the desert apples of Mr. Hawkins, both of the North Shore, were much admired, as was also a fine sample of black grapes grown by Mr. McFarlane. . The weather was most favourable, but the attendance, from what cause we do not know, was not nearly so good as during the November show, despite the inclemency of the day. The ash-leafed kidney potatoes were a very fine sample, and the basket of vegetables alongside them attracted much attention. Sec. I.—Plants in Tots or Boxes.
