New-Zealandeu Office, Auckland, Friday, April 22nd, 1859. The arrivals of the week have been the steam ship White Swan from the South with a large number (55) of passengers, and a few articles of merchandise, 431 sheep from Napier, and 93 cheeses from Akaroa, with which fine port this may be perhaps the first indication of a future trade. The barque Isabella Hamilton has arrived with a cargo of coals from Newcastle, and, as well as the barque Lochnagar, is now on the berth for London. The departures have been the schooner Gazelle, with 30 tons potatoes ; the brig Moa, with 43 tons 1" cwt kauri gum, 16,382 lbs wool, 448 lbs cheese, 107 bides; the brigantine Spray, with 2UO bags potatoes, 112 bags kauri gum, 5 bales wool and 23 hides—all for Sydney. There have been few arrivals from the coast, the produce received consisting of 051 bushels wheat, 106 bushels apples, 12 cwt onions, 30 pigs. 20 head cattle, 4 horses, 1 whale boat, 680 posts and rails, 8000 shingles, 31 tons kauri gum, 224 lons hrewood, 25,850 feet sawn timber. There j s no alteration in the markets. Flour steady at £2O for fine, £ls to £l7 for seconds. Bran Is 3d. Mr. Hobson held a sale of wines and spirits at his Mart on Monday last. There was a fair attendance, but small competation, and only a few parcels were disposed of, the bulk being withdrawn. The amount of Customs Revenue received during the week ended the Kith inst., was £1967 Is 7dThe cattle sale held at Newmarket by Mr. Hunter on Tursday last was not so brisk as of late. Fat cattle of really good quality were wanting, and the store stock brought forward was not suitable to the demand. Fat cattle sold from £8 Ids. to £ll. Store stock from £4 12s, (id. to £7. Two dairy cows brought £l6 each. Calves from £l 14s. to £2 14s. Sheep brought from £T 9s. to £1 11s. 6d. Lambs from Lis. to 14s. (id, A pony sold for £ls, and two working bullocks for £2B. At the sale of cattle held by Messrs. Chccseman at Newmarket on Tuesday last, the 19th instant, all descriptions of stork sold well. Beef was in advance of last week. Steers and cows realized from £l9 to £l2 ss. Fat pigs are in demand. At Mr, Alfred Uuckland’s sale yards on Thursday last, there was the customary attendance of buyers and a full market of fat Slock. 35 head of Fat Cattle were driven in and last week’s prices maintained. Leicester wethers fetched 3;is and 33s (Id, The Merino Wethers* fiotn Ahuriri were not all sold. Above 209 realised an average of 24s each, the remainder were withdrawn. Dairy cows at the calving are in great request, and command high prices-from £l4 to £l7 each. 31 fat pigs were disposed of at prices varying from 29s to /Its. The horse stock adyfertised sold respectively for the foals, £5 55.; £l3 55.; three year old horse £33; mares £6O and £49. The entire fetched £29 19s.
