The New-Zealander.

Auckland, Wednesday, April 15, 1857.

lie just and fear not : Let all the ends thou aim'st ut, be thy Country's, Thy Goo's, and Truth's.

After a lengthened voyage of 115 days, "the Cashmere" lias reached our Harbour in safety, bringing a numerous company of passengers, among whom are some old colonists, who have returned hither after a visit to the old country. In the list of these parties will be found the names of Mr. T. S. Forsaith and his family ; and we are glad to be able to state that he is none the worse for the labour he underwent in lecturing in so many different parts of England on the inducements to emigration held out by our Province. Everywhere, Mr. Forsaith informs us, the deepest anxiety was evinced to obtain full information as to the extent and character of the Province of Auckland: and wherever he went, also, he met with additional grounds for arriving at the conclusion we stated as our own long since, that Auckland has no agent at home worthy of that name, and that had we such a representative possessed of but half the energy and assurance of the parties fulfilling that office for other New Zealand Provinces, we should soon have to prepare for the reception of hundreds where now we only have tens of immigrants. From private letters we have received by " the Cashmere" we learn that Mr. Forsaith's lectures have been of eminent

service in removing erroneous standing of Auckland compared with the i 1 Provinces —Wellington especially ; an J ot^f I that we have another line of ships +h D °* James Baines and Co.—we hope that soon begin to derive the full benefit of \f Forsaith's active honorary services on l>eh If the Province which he has adopted J / By the " Cashmere" we have received >r three copies of the Times newspaper tW ° .late being the 18th of December, f oUr '> . later than our last news. There is no ? s exciting intelligence in any of them ; ' extracts elsewhere given will nevert'heles i read with interest. ■*
